This plant is native to Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Angola. It has been known since 1901.
This picture was taken in a friend's greenhouse. It has never grown well for me. It seems to need warmth and very bright light. When it gets those things it performs spectacularly growing into the rafters and blooming profusely.
